Code of Ethics
1. Purpose
This Code of Ethics sets out the editorial standards Pramaan follows as a
publisher of news and current affairs content, in compliance with Part III
of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media
Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and the Norms of Journalistic Conduct issued by
the Press Council of India.
2. Accuracy and Fairness
- We verify facts before publication and clearly distinguish news from
opinion, analysis, and sponsored content. - We seek comment from all relevant parties, especially in reports that
make allegations against an individual or organisation. - We promptly correct factual errors and clearly mark corrections.
3. Privacy
We respect individual privacy and do not intrude except where a matter is
of demonstrable public interest. We do not identify victims of sexual
offences, minors in conflict with the law, or other individuals where
identification is restricted by law.
4. Communal Harmony and National Security
We do not publish content that promotes enmity between groups on grounds
of religion, race, caste, community, or region, or that threatens the
sovereignty, integrity, defence, or security of India, in line with Rule
3(1)(b) of the IT Rules, 2021 and Section 5 of the Cable Television
Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 (Programme Code), applied here as an
editorial standard.
5. Communal and Social Sensitivity
We avoid content that is obscene, defamatory, or that denigrates children,
women, or any protected group, and we exercise particular caution in
reporting on communal, caste, or gender-related matters.
6. Sting Operations and Undercover Reporting
Undercover methods are used only where the story serves a clear public
interest that cannot reasonably be obtained by other means, and are
subject to internal editorial approval before publication.
7. Advertising and Sponsored Content
Sponsored or promotional content is clearly labelled as such and kept
editorially distinct from independent news reporting.
8. Right of Reply and Corrections
Any individual or organisation that believes a Pramaan report about them
is factually inaccurate may request a correction or right of reply by
writing to pramaan.news@gmail.com.
Requests are reviewed by the editorial desk and, where warranted, a
correction is published promptly and prominently.
9. Grievance Redressal (Level I)
As required under Rule 11 of the IT Rules, 2021, complaints about content
published on Pramaan may be submitted to our Grievance Officer:

Complaints are acknowledged within twenty-four (24) hours and disposed of
within fifteen (15) days, in accordance with Rule 11(3) of the IT Rules,
2021.
